Tuskegee Airman From LA Dies of COVID-19 Days Before 101st Birthday

Los Angeles native and Congressional Gold Medal recipient Theodore Lumpkin Jr., who made history when he joined the Tuskegee Airmen, has died days before his 101st birthday, it was announced Friday.

US Mint to release quarter honoring Tuskegee Airmen NHS

January 1st 2021....WASHINGTON DC (WPMI) — The United States Mint (Mint) will release the 2021 America the Beautiful Quarter honoring the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site on January 4, 2021.
This is the final quarter in the America the Beautiful Quarters Program and the only America the Beautiful Quarter to be issued in 2021.
Due to increased demand for circulating coins, these quarters will ship to the Federal Reserve Banks ahead of the previously planned February 1st release date.

Former Tuskegee Airman Alfred Thomas Farrar Dies at Age 99

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Alfred Thomas Farrar, a former Tuskegee Airman, died on Thursday in Virginia only days before a ceremony planned to honor his service in the program that famously trained Black military pilots during World War II. He was 99.
Farrar's son, Roy, told The Associated Press on Sunday that his father died at his Lynchburg home. Alfred Farrar would have turned 100 years old on Dec. 26.
Farrar left his Lynchburg hometown for Tuskegee, Alabama, after graduating from high school to began his aviation training in 1941.
