The Airmen of Tuskegee Will Live Forever

Friends of Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site salutes the tremendous African-American airmen who served their country. We've put together this video to honor their memory. This video, narrated by Morgan Freemen, is brought to you by PilotMag.

Tuskegee Airmen Col. Charles McGee, age 99, visits the Friends Of Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site Hangar 2. He sees himself for the 1st time in a display where he was presented with the Congregational Gold Medal by President George W. Bush. This video was captured on March 30th, 2019.

This is the story of Colonel Charles McGee and the legendary Tuskegee Airmen. Their invaluable service during the Second World War will always be remembered. This video is narrated by Leslie Odom Jr.

About the Congressional Gold Medal

The highest civilian award presented by the U.S. Congress happens to be the Congressional Gold Medal. This award goes only to a group or individual who has performed an outstanding deed or service to the prosperity, security, and interest of the USA. 

The African-American Tuskegee Airmen were presented this medal on March 29th, 2007 for outstanding service to their country during WWII and recognized for their unique military record that inspired revolutionary reform in the Armed Forces. These airmen include:
  • Bombardiers
  • Navigators
  • Mechanics
  • Other military or civilian men and women who performed ground support duties
